Key wicket of Donald already is crucial.

Lost 3 overs getting in via derbys cc.
Yeah, this is painful against the worst team in the division
This comment aged well. Hopefully as we have 9 bowlers to choose from we will defend this ok.

Still not so much as a mention of it on our website. It comes to something when the runner's up post details and the winners don't bother to! Our website really is poor - for example, there is fleeting reference to the World Championship of Legends matches being played at Edgbaston, but nowhere can I see details of when, who is playing etc. I have found some info on the WCL website and matches at Edgbaston start tomorrow - details below if anyone is interested. Looks as if a few old Bears are in the England squad, including Ian Bell, Tim Ambrose and Mo Ali, which is interesting because I think he's currently turning out for Guyana in the Caribbean T20! A few other former Bears appear for other nations too, including Imran Tahir, Shiv Chanderpaul and Fidel Edwards, who I seem to recall played a game for us whilst on loan, although I may be mistaken.

Yes Fidel played T20 for us in 2019, didn't he take a load of wickets in his first game?

Passed me by that Davies isn't part of the 100. I don't want to start another pile on but was quite looking forward to seeing Barnard / Yates opening as thought that was quite complimentary. Good to see Booth, Hamza and Taz get a run in the side again. Will Bamber do 50 over?
Had completely forgotten about Bamber! And yes shove Davies down the order please.

The Bears will have seven players missing from the 50 over competition because they will be playing in The Hundred.
They are:
Sam Hain, Jacob Bethell, Dan Mousley, George Garton, Richard Gleeson, Danny Briggs, Chris Woakes
Only Surrey (15), Lancashire (13) and Hampshire (8) have more players missing. Worcestershire with just one player absent (Adam Hose) are least affected.
Not sure on the status of our overseas contingent but even so this team should do ok I reckon:
Davies
Yates
Hamza
Malik
Barnard
Another batsman not sure who? Jani maybe
K Smith
Lintott
OHD
Booth/Miles
Simmons/T Ali

4th place in the group is looking decidedly 'iffy' now. I think it will be difficult to get into the QF's. Leics & Notts have got games in hand and Worcester, a similar run rate. Mind you they either to play each other, or one of the top 3. A big win for us, is essential.
Leics play Durham at Chester-le-Street tomorrow - (heavy) rain expected all afternoon and showers all evening, so it's odds on that it will be a NR. 2 points for Leics, will still keep them below us, with 1 game for both left.
Will need to keep an eye on the Worcester/Notts game on Thursday. Both teams are on 24 points, so whoever wins will join us on 28. We don't want Worcester to win easily (their NRR is close'ish to ours and a lot would then depend on final games). I think a Notts win would be better (their NRR is quite a bit worse).
It's Worcestershire's last game though so even if they win we'd just need to beat Derbyshire to finish ahead of them anyway.
Never in doubt haha we're peaking at the right time for once.
Personally I think Westwood was a bad choice as coach but we really didn't help ourselves leaving Robinson in post so long after last season ended.

A disappointing result today, although we gave it a good go in the chase. Ultimately, Mousley's 2 overs for 31 cost us in the end.
A strange looking team selection today, with Yates batting at 6. He's hardly the type of player to come in and smash a few sixes about, is he? We'd be better off with Hassan Ali coming in at 6, or Davies dropping down the order.
Agree about the line up, we don't seem to have settled on our best line up at all yet. Luckily results went our way and we are still very much in the hunt to qualify.
Good so far, excellent from Gleeson, Hassan and Briggs. Now let's see how we bat as I still have nightmares about the Pears game.

Why aren't Hassan Ali, Dan Mousley and Jacob Bethell not playing?
Hassan because we're only allowed 2 overseas, Bethell with England, Dan M no idea although is he injured as didn't play in the T20 game today. Anyway a decent second innings so far.

Unchanged test team announced, but non selected players are not being released.
Makes the decision to omit Mousely even more of a mistake.Agreed, I'd already stated on a different thread that I would expect him to leave at the end of the season - I am now 100% convinced he won't be playing next year. Sadly it seems his body gave up on him over a year ago.
Edit - have we already nominated who Bethell will come in for and if so, can that change for Rushworth?
See Highvelds post above, Bethells not going to be released.

Sussex going at 4 an over already, its looking ominous for the rest of the day. We really need a couple of wickets after lunch to put the brake on.
Agreed but we scored at nearly 4 an over throughout our whole innings. Unfortunately it's just the way it is with the weather and the ball in use.
Highveld wrote:
Yet another abysmal dismissal from Davies. a totally inappropriate shot for the match situation.
I ask, again, how can you expect other mebers of the team play sensibly, when their captain repeatedly is out to poor dismissals?
For once I have to agree with Highveld, Davies continually plays like it's a one day game.
BBC live feed very critical of our attempts to slow things down this morning, yet Somerset have just lost Abell and still not declared.
Interesting that Rushworth is there when the BBC said a hamstring injury kept him out the Somerset game yesterday. Also why no Garton just to see how he gets on?

Has accepted an invitation to play in the Global Super League next month, July 10th to 18th.
He'll play for Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Make of that what you will...
Is he not contracted to us!? If he's going to disappear for the climax of the t20 group stages he might as well be left out now.
With the hot weather and the new Aussie spinner I wonder if the line up will be something like this:
Latham
Yates
Davies (c&w - needs to drop down order!)
Hain
Bethell
Mousley
Barnard
Bamber
Rocchi
Rushworth
OHD
4 seamers 4 spinners very well balanced.
Not picked for England, any chance he can turn out for us otherwise he's just kicking his heels like Woakes used to.
It could be argued in the last few years we've peaked far too soon so end up out of sorts by the knock outs. Maybe this year we will time our run better. However as per usual the south group looks a lot stronger to me.
