We have a lot of batsmen on the books now, he'd be welcome to go and play the T20 leagues, can't imagine he'd be required in red ball.

Burgess for red ball. Davies for white ball, though he doesn't seem to keep much anymore so Benjamin might job share with him?

He signed a three year deal at the end of last year didn't he, so I would doubt he's going anywhere permanently

The club issued a lot of three year contracts last season, none of them have looked to be good decisions so far.

Alternatively the club has invested in players for the next few years, allowing inexperienced players the time to develop.

Durham are looking for a keeper for next year. Whether that be a loan or permanent deal. The rumour was Ollie Robinson from Kent was going there after his successful loan spell. Because he couldn’t get past Billings in T20.
However since his remarkable RLODC form Kent are trying their best to keep him.
I wonder if Benjamin might go there instead for Championship cricket next year. He did go to university there after all, so knows it well.

If he does go to Durham, it will be because he wants to do a 'Pollock' and prove he can perform in the red ball game. Pollock has done OK (no more than that, so far) at New Road this season, he never got any chance at Edgbaston. The same with Hose. I don't blame them.

On this seasons performances, I'd rather have Ed Pollock than Yates with his average of 12, below 8 if his one fifty is dicarded.

It is understandable players, who have a short career, will want to move if a better opportunity is available. It is demoralising to know you can perform well, but players performing at an unacceptable poor level are allowed to continue underperforming in the team with no consequences.

Not sure on this one. Yates bats in the top three it's proven very tricky for top three batters over the last 5-6 years and he's caught the eye of national selection. Not saying he's undroppable. However there's a difference between players available to bat up the top of the order for which Warwicks have few options at present (and there'll be even fewer next season once Sibley's gone) compared to batting in a more comfortable slot against the older ball at 5, 6 or 7 where there will almost certainly be more options available to the coaches and there will be a need to select players with multiple facets to his/her game - slip catching, turning his arm over for a few overs with the old ball without going for too many runs. There's obviously an issue with Lamb and I hope his move slightly south east goes through in the winter and he gets a good run at a first division county shows what he can do

Benjamin has a bit more time to crack on with Bears next two seasons and I hope he does he showed he can knuckle down with that innings up at Old Trafford last season not just whack it up in the air or get bowled playing heave-ho shots like he so often does

His confidence will be nicely massaged by his current innings. 40 off 50 so far. Durham 380/5, absolutely dominating an incredibly young but poor Sussex team.

Has been signed by MI Cape Town to play in the SAt20 this winter. A good opportunity for him and you'd think for the sake of his career one he needs to do quite well in should he get a chance to play.

He must have one hell of an agent. Considering he’s been poor in the blast and hundred for 2 years it’s a great deal for him. I wonder if he counts as a South African domestic player, and that’s helped his cause.

Not the biggest loss. Has never offered much in red ball.
Got consistently worse in T20, with this season being atrocious.
Probably the best outcome for both sides. Frees up a T20 spot for Barnard or Smith.
Still plenty of keeping in the squad for next season with Davies and Smith.

I'm stunned to read he was being offered a 2 year contract by us. Kai Smith does what he does and already does it better. Benjamin's continued presence would have been blocking him.

Nothing surprises me with our contract offers anymore.
We seem to love offering key players 1 year deals, but underperforming, fringe or unproven players get 2 or 3 year deals.
