Did you have anyone in particular in mind?

I thought he was capped at Somerset away last year? I'm probably mistaken.

He was wearing a yellow bear on his cap when interviewed by the club about his vice captaincy, and there are no stories about him getting his cap.

There is an article from the Edgbaston site about him taking on the vice captaincy. Within this article is a picture of him at Taunton holding a cap with the white Bear on it. Article dated 4th April 2024. No idea how to link stuff on here.

I hope he does have the full cap, it is totally deserved, a good person and an excellent signing.

Well the last 2 sessions were much better than the first….
Superb by Barnard and Burgess, both once again showing the resilience that too many of our top order lack when the going gets tough.
Though I do worry what our severely weakened attack will be able to do on this pitch, considering how much easier we found it after lunch, even with Essex’s much vaunted attack.

Brilliant 7 wicket partnership, watched most of it online and the way both were committed to staying in and just hitting the bad balls was exemplary. Both of them left loads of balls that could have seen them get out and were prepared to just get a good position going. Think we need 400+ but it's better than the 140 all out that it could have been.

Well done to Barnard and Burgess! An excellent 7th wicket stand. Barnard has proved a great signing.

Jamie Porter was fielding on the boundary swearing about the groundsman having prepared a slow pitch.
We shall see what the bowlers can do tomorrow.

Blimey he'd be sweared out if he played half his games at Edgbaston.

As debut spells go that was pretty impressive

Just nice to see a bit of pace in our attack for once. It makes a difference. Rae looks legitimately rapid and Simmons is sharp and was right on the money from word go.

I’ve ordered a poster of Che off the internet but, to be honest, it looks nothing like him.

Blimey, he's not got anywhere near those figures in 4 years playing for the Seconds! Just shows you what 'being fired up' by a First Team appearance can do!

Its the beard and wearing that square cap and a jungle camouflage T shirt, that throws you off a bit!

(VERY) early days, but who said the Development squad can't produce seam bowlers now?! I think I did!

Gerry - brilliant timing

Right now who was saying or thinking we have not got a decent bowling attack and thought Essex would be tearing us apart?

I just hope the last 4 wickets don't let them escape.

An excellent effort indeed. Delighted for Simmons, but I’m mindful that we all thought Johal was going to be the next big thing after his performances in the Bob Willis Trophy final.

Superb performance - now let's bat them out of the game and declare around tea tomorrow
