For a long time now, the Club has described the (male) T20 side as just Bears. A lot of the media (including Sky) haven't picked up on this and still badge the side as Birmingham Bears. At no point (as far as I know) has the Club said anything officially; and they certainly haven't formally re-introduced the Warwickshire name for the T20 team.
My assumption has been that the Birmingham name is being reserved for the Phoenix and that the Club are happy quietly to drop the word Birmingham from the T20 side to avoid confusion with Phoenix.
I've raised this a couple of times at AGMs and told them its an easy PR and marketing win. The present lot just grin which is an improvement on some of their predecessors.
They seemed to drop the B word as soon as Hundred was introduced.
One memory from last season was the tense game against Essex when the whole crowd was chanting "Warwickshire la la la" at the crucial stage of the match.
We will always be Warwickshire as far as I am concerned and when we won the T20 in 2014, a lot of the commentators still referred to us with our proper name and also the scorecards in the papers the next day had us as Warwickshire.

Has the crowd ever chanted "Birmingham la la la" ? I think at the end of the day it has been a useless piece of marketing that served no purpose.
