Cannot see any reason why we shouldn't have Woakes back. After all, he would have been in the Test team now so there appears to be no difference apart from interfering ECB idiots who might say he needs resting after barely playing all season. It would not be a shock to see him not in the team.

Woakes is in. Johal drops out of the 13.

I hope management know the only change needed from the Hants game, is that Woakes should come in for Holder - and they don't keep him in, just because he's being paid big('ish) money as one of our (wonderful?!) Overseas signings.

Woakes for Holder I’d say. Straight swap, obviously a top bowler, but also makes the tail significantly shorter, as it’s only Miles and Norwell who are true tailenders.
Lie and say he’s injured; or do whatever is needed to save Holders pride, but don’t play him just because they’ve paid far too much for him.
Also I think it’s time for Rhodes to score some runs, can’t have your number 4/5 barely contribute with the bat all year.. Or if he is far more of an all rounder now, move him to 7 and have Lamb and Burgess go 5&6.

Weather is pretty crap for Leeds over the next couple of days. Today should be OK, though rain is coming in this evening (so probably a 'bad light' finish). Tomorrow and Tuesday is dark cloud and showers all day according to the BBC Weather (don't know what the Met say). Of course, one of the problems of mid to late September cricket - and not helped by Northern climes.

Some changes to that team from the squad with some coming from outside the squad. Few covid changes perhaps?

Briggs, Yates and Holder miss out. Woakes, Bresnan and Bethell in.

Can only assume injury or illness for Briggs and Yates. Thought Briggs bowled well last match, just needed some support at the other end.

Yep, Woakes is in for Holder. Bethell is in for Briggs - perhaps a late Covid change, as Jacob wasn't in the squad. Bresnan is in for Yates - I don't know if that's tactical or enforced. Both bowling changes do really lengthen the batting and I guess Bresnan does help as a fourth seamer.

Yorkshire won the toss and put us in.

It's very odd that Yates, Briggs and Holder have been named in the squad not even 24 hours ago but not selected in the XI. I can see how Holder might be dropped. I can perhaps see how Briggs might miss out for tactical reasons at a stretch. Yates though...

Not going well so far, to put it mildly.

Pathetic batting yet again. Sack the coaches!

Time for a Woakes special or this could be a very short game. Interesting to see what we might have done on winning the toss.

It’s not exactly a surprise though is it, it’s being happening for years.

Over the winter something needs to be done to work on the mental aspect to try and stop these collapses.

It’s unfortunate that so many of our batsmen appear to be so out of form all at the same time.

Is it the pitch? Or great bowling? Or bad batting?

The same pattern for years: Basically bad batting.

A bit of a recovery from 71 for 6 and with the usual caveat of 'let's wait til both sides have batted on it' but 155 doesn't seem like a par score.
